So-long Saddam

I don't pretend to be a political person, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. You may have heard that Saddam Hussein was executed this morning. He's never made any real impact in my own life (other than the amusing South Park sketches)South Park's interpretation of Saddam Hussein with Satain but on the basis of what I've seen on the TV and read in books and newspapers over the years this man was nothing but a cruel dictator who deserved everything he recieved.

The only people I fail to understand are those now protesting his execution. Other than on the grounds capital punishment in general I cannot see any reason behind this, and I'd be interested to hear their reasons for why Saddam deserved to live given the crimes he committed.

Like most politicians are predicting, I doubt this turn of events is going to make any enormous impact to the violence taking place in Iraq, but handled right, as it appears to have been, I cannot see it as being at all bad. In fact I imagine most of the world will breath a sigh of relief.

Personally, he just didn't fit the picture of someone that should be executed...i mean yes, what he did was horrible and he should be punished. I dunno, i mean, we just executed a former dictator...someone who was in power, it just seems...weird?

I know what you mean - wierd is a good word, though technically we did not do it - the Iraqis did. The (majority of the) US and UK do not have capital punishment.

Either way I think it's best him dead than trying to continue stiring support and calling for holy wars from behind bars.

Guess only history will tell whether it was the right move.

Saddam's execution doesn't sit well with me.Firstly I don't agree with capital punishment.Secondly, Saddam was basically put in power by the Americans and gassed the Kurds while he was their puppet. Now all of a sudden he is their mortal enemy.

The whole thing just stinks of America's unscrupulous foreign policy. No doubt he was a cruel man, but Bush is responsible for the deaths of more people than Saddam.
